The Art of Staying in

Autumn arrives quietly in Dubai. The White Company shows how to welcome it at home.
There are no falling leaves here to announce the season. Autumn in Dubai arrives with the first evening you open the terrace doors, switch off the air conditioning and let the night in.
After a long summer indoors, home deserves a softer mood, and The White Company's idea of cocooning suits the moment well. It starts with touch. A Pure Cashmere Throw, made in Italy from recycled cashmere, is light enough for a Gulf evening on the balcony. On the sofa, a Tibetan Sheepskin Cushion brings a little northern cosiness to a city that rarely needs a fireplace.
Then comes the light. Overhead bulbs give way to candle glow, doubled in the mirrored base of the hand-soldered Naunton Lantern. The air carries Winter, the cinnamon, clove and orange fragrance that founder Chrissie Rucker created more than 21 years ago. It delivers the scent of the season, even when the weather stays warm.
Dressing down is part of the ritual too: a cashmere-blend hoodie, matching joggers and bouclé Snuggle Socks for evenings when the air conditioning is doing the work.
No redecorating is required. A few pieces chosen for the senses are enough.
