Stroke Rehabilitation at Home in the UAE // US Specialist Indoma Arrives in Dubai

For families caring for someone after a stroke or brain injury, leaving hospital can feel like the moment support falls away. That’s often just when the hard work of recovery begins. Indoma, a US-based specialist neurorehabilitation company, has launched in Dubai to help fill that gap, bringing intensive, technology-assisted therapy into patients’ own homes.

The science of recovery

Indoma’s approach is built on neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt and relearn after injury. For many patients, progress is often assumed to slow or stop after a certain point. Indoma’s model is based on evidence that meaningful gains can still be possible when therapy is delivered with enough intensity, repetition and consistency.

The service supports people recovering from stroke, mild traumatic brain injury and other neurological events. For conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis, similar technologies are used to help maintain and improve movement and cognitive function.

Care at home

Each patient starts with a physician-led assessment. They then receive a personalised plan combining medical oversight, multidisciplinary rehabilitation and dedicated care coordination, with progress reviewed continuously. Being treated at home means therapy fits around daily life, with less disruption for the patient and their family.

The name comes from the word “indomitable”. “Hospital discharge is a milestone, not the end of the rehabilitation journey,” says co-founder and CEO Oren Schneider.

The team

In Dubai, clinical care is led by Medical Director Dr Nazakat Hussain, a consultant in physical medicine and rehabilitation with more than 30 years’ experience in the UK and UAE. He is joined by Chairman and Chief Medical Officer Dr Teo Forcht Dagi, Professor of Neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Indoma plans to work alongside patients’ existing doctors and hospitals rather than replace them.

Indoma will begin accepting patients through referral or direct enquiry in the coming weeks.
