WHOOP Arabic App Launch // What It Means for Fitness Tracking in the UAE

If you’ve noticed more WHOOP bands on wrists at your gym or running club lately, you’re not imagining it.
The fitness wearable has become a big hit in the region, and it’s now launching in Arabic. A fully redesigned Arabic-language app means Arabic-speaking members can now get insights into their sleep, recovery, strain and overall health in their own language for the first time.
A booming market
The launch reflects how important the region has become for WHOOP. Membership across the GCC has grown by more than 75 per cent year on year. “The GCC has become a major market for us,” says founder and CEO Will Ahmed. “Launching in Arabic is a crucial part of that strategy.”
The brand is investing heavily locally. It now has a dedicated UAE office and a growing retail network. Through WHOOP Qatar, it will open its first international performance research and development facility outside Boston later this year. The Arabic launch also delivers on a key goal of its partnership with Mubadala Investment Company, which invested in WHOOP’s latest funding round.
How it works
For the uninitiated, WHOOP is a screenless wearable that continuously learns your body’s unique baseline. It then turns complex data into personalised guidance, showing how everyday choices around sleep, exercise, stress and recovery affect how you feel, perform and age over time. It’s less about counting steps and more about understanding your body.
Serious credentials
WHOOP is the official health performance wearable of UAE Team Emirates-XRG and Al Nassr Football Club. It also partners with Dubai Fitness Challenge and the Doha Marathon, so it’s well connected to the region’s high-performance and fitness communities.
With Dubai Fitness Challenge now under way, the timing is good. If you’ve been thinking about tracking your progress, there’s now one less barrier to getting started.
