We ended our week with a cheeky little team lunch, and we decided to venture further afield than our usual spots (yes, past Mall of Emirates folks, shock horror!) and we headed over to DIFC to try the business lunch at Michelin worthy Clap.
Clap is a contemporary Japanese restaurant located on the top of DIFC and has truly stunning views of the city skyline. After taking the lift to the 9th floor, you are met with contemporary yet quirky interiors including a reception desk made from books and chandeliers of action figures which set it apart from many of the upscale contemporary Asian eateries we have in Dubai. It’s a large space too and we can see why it’s become one of the most vibrant bars in DIFC for after work and evening drinks.
Whilst perfect for a date night or evening with friends, we headed over for lunch to try the new summer business lunch menu which runs Monday to Friday between 12noon and 3.30pm and offers 3 courses for just AED 115. For this, you get Miso soup, a choice of 2 starters, 1 main and if you still have space, you can pay an extra 35 dhs for dessert. The menu contains many of their favourite dishes including Black Cod Miso, Salmon Teriyaki, Shitake Salad and Shrimp Tempura. There are good veggie options too. It's fair to say it’s a really great offer.
Drinks are not included of course and it’s also fair to say this is where we spent all our money on their brilliant cocktail list – we loved the twist on a Margherita. The drinks menu is fantastic, as is the wine menu and this team really know their stuff.
Talking about the staff, they were super informed and really friendly, helpful and accommodating, which isn’t always the way in upscale eateries as we know. And it’s worth mentioning, just because we always judge a hotel or restaurant on its toiletries, it got extra points for using Aesop. Every touch point was really rather lovely and we left with our bellies full and having had a really lovely few hours enjoying each other’s company and the really lovely menu and ambiance.
We loved Clap and we’ll definitely be back soon to try more of its menu. And well, the cocktails!
