Biologique Recherche Sérum Vivant: The New Serum for Adult Blemishes and Redness

If you thought blemishes would be left behind with your teenage years, you’re far from alone. Biologique Recherche says two in five women report persistent blemishes after the age of 25. For some, they never really went away. For others, they appear for the first time in adulthood, on skin that is now more sensitive, more easily dehydrated and slower to recover.
The French skincare house’s answer is Sérum Vivant, a daily corrective serum for persistent blemishes and redness. It’s designed specifically for adult skin, including sensitive skin.
From mask to serum
Sérum Vivant follows on from Masque Vivant, one of the brand’s most cult products. Like the mask, it’s built around yeast extracts made by fermenting Saccharomyces cerevisiae. These act as postbiotics to help rebalance blemish-prone skin. Inulin, a prebiotic, helps support the skin’s microbiome. Dendritic polylysine, a biopolymer made through fermentation, targets the microbial imbalances that can keep blemishes coming back.
The key difference from many blemish treatments is that it’s non-drying. Instead of stripping the skin, Sérum Vivant is designed to protect the skin barrier and keep it hydrated while it works.
The results
In the brand’s 28-day trial on 21 women, persistent blemishes were reduced by 42 per cent, and 86 per cent of participants saw less redness. Skin also became smoother and more even. Results start to show from 14 days, when excess sebum falls by 27 per cent.
True to the brand, it has a distinctive character. Its brown colour and earthy scent come from the fermented extracts. The texture is light and watery with a non-greasy finish. Apply it morning and evening with upward massage movements.
Sérum Vivant costs AED 775 for 30ml or AED 305 for 8ml. It’s available from selected partners across the GCC and online at Ounass and Bloomingdale’s.
