Too Hot Outside? Embroidery Indoors is The Perfect Hobby to Beat the Heat

As temperatures soar, it's the perfect time to stay in and pick up a fun new hobby. Embroidery is making a stylish comeback thanks to a new generation of creative DIYers, and you don’t need to spend a fortune to get started.

Whether you're adding a personal touch to your clothes or customizing accessories, platforms like Temu make it easy and affordable to get started.

Where fashion trends often make everyone look the same, Rocío González decided to do something different. She brought embroidery back, with her own modern twist.

“I got tired of seeing the same styles everywhere,” says Rocío, the artist behind Perdiendoelhilo. “I wanted to wear something that expressed who I am.”

That’s when she turned to embroidery. For her, it’s not just a craft, it’s a way to turn everyday clothes into something personal and full of meaning. A simple T-shirt or pair of sneakers can become a one-of-a-kind piece when touched by her needle and thread.

The right tools to bring back the art of sewing

“I have been sewing for a while. One day, I found a way to combine the art of embroidery with something trendy, using it in everyday clothes and accessories but with a twist,” she explains.

But making unique clothes takes the right tools, and those weren’t easy to find in regular stores. That’s how she discovered Temu. “They had everything I needed,” Rocío says. “From thimbles and scissors to special threads and fabric organizers.

“I use thimbles made from different materials, such as silicone, polyester fiber, or latex, to be as comfortable as possible when sewing. I’m very impressed by how well all the thimbles that I’ve tried work”
