The Real Housewives Take Dubai

The Real Housewives franchise makes its long-awaited debut on Bravo, June 1st with the Dubai cast, the 11th version of the now global franchise, ready to take us by (sand) storm.

Ready to whip up their own shamal, the RHOD trailer has dropped, and if any desert dwellers were thinking the Dubai version might become a tad sanitised, in a nod to cultural customs, they can think again!

“Women in Dubai are not submissive…

Women in Dubai are running this town!”

- Caroline Stanbury, RHOD.

We see Stanbury marry her new husband, Real Madrid footballer Sergio Carallo, and reveal her dismay at his desire for more children with the mother of three - ‘Not happening’ - says Caroline's daughter.

Caroline Stanbury is joined by fellow castmates Nina Ali, Chanel Ayan, Caroline Brooks, Dr. Sara Al Madani and Lesa Milan.

From the trailer, we see Chanel as the standout comedian - meme-worthy lines delivered with a wink, but a vulnerability that reveals the abuse she suffered in childhood at the hands of her father, alongside an array of hairstyles as impressive as the Dubai skyline.

“There’s a lot of gold here, and we have a lot of gold diggers, too,”

- Chanel Ayan, RHOD.

Later in the trailer, she reveals, “The only exercise I do, is doing my husband.”

Camels! Tick

Fashion show! Tick

Cosmetic procedures! Tick

Tears! Tick

Weddings! Tick

F- Bombs! Tick

There’s plenty of shade in this desert, and yep - the Real Housewives formula is alive and well, but with added sand and gilding. Eagle-eyed fans of the Atlanta franchise will spot an end cameo from Phaedra Parks, demanding the tea (or should that be Chai?)

Enough from the trailer, what can we expect from the rest of the series?

"You're gonna see a lot of things that you didn't expect to see in Dubai. I think it's exciting because the entry point is women from, there's a lot of expats and the lifestyle is bigger there, the glamour is intense and it's just a totally different playground for them. I mean, it's somewhere we've never seen before." said Executive Producer Andy Cohen

Bring all the tea, Andy, and just like Phaedra, we are thirsty for it.
