Mukta has been living in Dubai for the past 9 years and she describes it as quite the journey! Having kicked off her career in the financial sector in Singapore where she is originally from, over the years of her career in Singapore she had progressed towards managing an investment portfolio for a family office.  

When she moved to Dubai Mukta was still trading currencies in the financial markets, but once she found out she was pregnant with her son, she made the decision to leave the finance world, so that she could spend more time with her baby. It was during this time that she came up with the idea of MissPalettable as she found a lack of clean beauty brands in the region. In October 2017, she launched MissPalettable and ever since then she has worked to organically grow her platform. In these years, her husband and her also ventured into the F&B world and operated a Singaporean cuisine restaurant called Sedap Asian Kitchen for 4 years. 

As a mum of 2 and a family of 4, Mukta loves building memories together and travelling. Balance is very important to her and she enjoys spending quality time with her kids over the weekend especially by the beach or poolside. In her free time, she tries to keep herself active by going for walks, playing tennis or going to the gym. She loves reading and keeping up with trends in the beauty industry.

Learn about a typical day in Mukta's life:

6 AM: Alarm goes off and I go into the kids room and wake them up for school. It's a  whirlwind as my kids have breakfast and get ready for school. 

7:10 AM: We are now running out of the door and praying we don’t hit traffic. I drop the kids off at school and make my way back home.

9 AM: I run into the shower and get ready for work. Outfits can vary depending on the day. If it’s a sole office admin day, I’m in jeans and sneakers. If I have meetings, I dress up in pants and a blouse. I eat my breakfast and I’m out of the door again. 

10:00 AM : I arrive at the office, and this is when I start catching up on messages and emails to see if there is anything pressing that I need to tackle right away.

10:30 AM: We have an open office, so I check-in with my team of the day and updates on pending or waiting for tasks. 

11:00 AM: My first zoom call of the day with my digital marketing team. Updates on our campaigns as well as strategy planning for our next campaigns.

12:00 NOON: Lunch time! I pack lunch to work as I try to eat healthy and clean home cooked food. I warm up my lunch in the microwave and this is when I go through my messages and emails again to see if there are any pressing tasks I need to tackle.

12:30 PM: Back to being productive and I go through my task list and hack through it.

2 PM: Time to head out of the office. Final check in with the team before I leave. I head to my kids' school to pick them up.

3:30 PM: We are back home and I spend time with my kids while they have their after school snacks. I check-in with them on their day at school and I also check-in on my son’s homework tasks. 

4 PM: I get ready for the gym and I head to my gym for my personal training session followed by some cardio.

6:30 PM: I am shattered from my workout and I am starving for dinner. I drive back home and eat dinner with my kids. If my husband is back from work he joins us, otherwise he eats later.

7:30 PM: I kiss the kids goodnight, give some final cuddles for the day and tuck them in for bedtime.

8:00 PM - 9:30 PM: Once the kids are in bed, I take a nice long warm shower, go through my skincare routine and settle down with a warm tea and my laptop. Being an entrepreneur and a mum means I’m working when I can. I clear out more of my task list. If I have a zoom meeting with a brand in the US this is when I get on a call with them. 

9:30 PM: I try to shut my laptop by 9.30pm. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. It really depends on the day. I review my day and shift any pending tasks to the next day in my planner and check-in on my schedule tomorrow. I then head to bed where I spend the next hour winding down, catching up with my husband on his day, and getting some reading in as well.

10:30 PM: I try to get to bed by 10.30pm, as I find I’m just a lot more energetic when I have rested and had enough sleep. This is a work in progress.
