JOB TITLE: Founder & CEO at SOCIATE Communications
Rosa Bullock is Founder of SOCIATE, a Dubai-born PR and communications agency that’s celebrating 10 years in the region. Her journey began with a desire to create a boutique agency that’s agile, creative, and rooted in authentic storytelling.
Over the past decade, SOCIATE has worked with brands ranging from REDTAG and Hotel Indigo to LEGOLAND and Holon Investments, building campaigns that resonate and drive results. Beyond traditional PR, Sociate focuses on creative communications, influencer strategies, and thought leadership to help brands stand out in a saturated market. Rosa is passionate about connecting people, ideas, and stories that leave a lasting impression.
Today Rosa shares with us her biggest life learnings to date:
#LIFELESSON – 1 - Grit Gets You There
It wasn’t just good ideas or lucky timing that built SOCIATE, it was grit. Showing up on the hard days, doing the work when no one was watching, and moving forward even when everything felt uncertain.
During COVID, like many founders, I had no roadmap. But I refused to panic. I focused on what I could control, stayed close to my team, and made one decision at a time. Some days that meant tackling one email, others it meant rewriting our entire approach.
Grit doesn’t always look glamorous. It’s often quiet, consistent, and unseen. It’s the discipline to keep showing up when things aren’t going your way, and the determination to keep moving when it feels like you’re standing still.
Over time, those small, determined steps built something unshakable. In business, leadership, and life, grit is the difference between giving up and breaking through. It’s the invisible force that carries you from where you are to where you want to be.
#LIFELESSON – 2 - Networking is the key.
People often ask how SOCIATE landed brands like Sofitel, Stradivarius, LEGOLAND etc and the truth is, they didn’t just land in my lap. These opportunities came through one powerful habit I’ve built over time: networking.
From the very beginning, I’ve always loved being around people whether it’s a quick coffee catch-up, a spontaneous conversation at an event, or simply staying in touch. Over time, what started as genuine connection naturally evolved into business opportunities. It wasn’t about pitching myself, it was about building real relationships, staying present, and creating trust.
Especially in a multicultural, fast-paced city like Dubai, networking has been one of the most important tools in growing SOCIATE. It’s not just about who you know, it's about who knows you and what you stand for.
Networking has never felt like a chore to me. It’s part of who I am. I enjoy hearing people’s stories, understanding their challenges, and finding ways to add value. That energy feeds into everything I do as a founder & CEO.
In the end, it’s simple: people do business with people.
#LIFELESSON – 3 - Adapt or get left behind
Dubai moves fast. And if we’re not evolving, we’re already falling behind.
SOCIATE began as a PR agency, small, focused, and full of heart. But over the years, I started noticing a shift. Clients didn’t just want traditional PR, they needed more. The scope was expanding and the industry was moving with it. Instead of resisting the change, I decided to lean into it. That’s how SOCIATE evolved into what it is today: a boutique agency with a strong focus on PR, social media, and influencer marketing.
That evolution didn’t happen by chance. It came from being open, curious, and unafraid to shift gears when the moment called for it. Change is constant, especially in a city like Dubai. The secret? Stay flexible. Stay bold.
