Terri, a self taught tablescapes and decor enthusiast, is the co-owner of homegrown sustainable soft furnishings brand, Russell & Rose Home, where her passion for table linens and throw cushions come to life. Transitioning from academia to entrepreneurship was a natural step for Terri, driven by her lifelong love for home decor and creating inviting spaces for memorable dining experiences. Her background in event management design during her academic career, therefore, laid the foundation for her enthusiasm in entertaining and hosting.
Terri’s entrepreneurial spirit first led her to the establishment of a home decor store, which showcased luxury pieces sourced from around the globe, reflecting Terri’s keen eye for curated aesthetics. However, the journey of Russell & Rose Home began amidst the challenges of the pandemic when the world slowed down, and families found solace in transforming their homes into havens of entertainment. Unable to dine out, the art of home entertaining flourished as people experimented with new recipes, hosted virtual dinner parties, and turned mundane evenings into memorable adventures. At the centre of the Russell & Rose Home brand is the deeply heartfelt narrative of the genuine essence of love and global community fostered through dining experiences.
Beyond her business, Terri has encountered life-altering lessons, having recently embarked on a previvor journey with breast cancer. This experience reinforced her commitment to living in the moment and embracing gratitude. This transformative period has instilled in her the wisdom to enjoy life to the fullest without regrets, recognizing that time is a precious gift. Terri advocates seizing every opportunity with optimism, love, and kindness, embodying the ethos that defines both her personal journey and that of Russell & Rose Home.
Life lessons
Going through my recent breast cancer previvor mastectomy journey has taught me the invaluable lesson of cherishing every moment. Life is unpredictable, and I’ve learned to savour the present, finding joy in the simplest of things.
As a high-risk BRCA-positive patient, I’ve discovered the importance of advocating and educating others on the available options for reconstruction and the support groups that can make a significant difference. I believe sharing this knowledge is key to empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Embracing a life filled with constant gratitude has become my mantra. From the challenges to the triumphs, I’ve learned that every experience shapes us. The Russell & Rose Home collections all tell a story through their design – a narrative of life, love, travel, food, and everything that embraces inclusivity and positivity. It’s a reminder to appreciate the journey and spread warmth through my creations.
