Free Things to Do in Dubai This Weekend: Speedy Comics Come Play! at Times Square Center

If your weekend plans currently read "mall, snacks, repeat", we've found the upgrade. Speedy Comics Presents: Come Play! lands at Times Square Center on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October, and entry is completely free.

Don't panic if you can't tell a Pokémon card from a parking ticket. This one is built for beginners as much as die-hard fans. There are Learn-to-Play sessions for Pokémon, One Piece and Riftbound, plus proper tournaments for the kids (or partners) who take it very seriously. Collectors can even get cards graded on site by HIT Grading.

Not a card person? Head for the free retro arcade games, trivia and family challenges, or browse local artists, illustrators and handmade creators. There are cosplay and dance competitions too, with prizes and giveaways across both days.

Our favourite bit is BIZ KIDZ, where young entrepreneurs aged 5 to 16 sell their own handmade products, art and crafts. Prepare to be out-negotiated by a nine-year-old.

It runs from 10am to 10pm both days, so you can go after nap time, before dinner, or whenever the "I'm bored" chorus begins.
