Dubai Curl Festival to Launch This October as the UAE and GCC's First Family Curly-Hair Festival

Dubai's curly-haired community is getting a celebration of its own. On Saturday, 10th October, Oh My Knots - the UAE's first community-led platform for curly, coily and kinky hair, launches the inaugural Dubai Curl Festival, bringing families, experts and leading brands together for a full day dedicated to natural curls.

It's the first event of its kind in the UAE and wider GCC, created to tackle the real challenges of curly hair in the Gulf's hard water, heat and humidity. Oh My Knots research found 69% of its community actively seek UAE-specific product advice, while 77% want simpler routines over complicated multi-step regimens.

"There is so much information about curly hair online, but much of it doesn't account for what our hair experiences living in the Gulf," says founder Gertrud Mackenzie. "We wanted to create a space where curls are celebrated rather than treated as something that needs to be fixed."

Expect expert talks, brand activations, styling demonstrations and a dedicated Kids' Curl Corner celebrating representation for younger curls, with LUSH, lululemon and more on board.
