Cosy Season // Seven Ways With Pumpkin Spice

Laura Jones is a Dubai-based Instagram influencer who is giving us all the cosy season goals over on her page. Here she explains what pumpkin spice actually is (spoiler alert – there’s not a pumpkin in sight) and how to use it in your favourite snacks and meals.

// What is Pumpkin Spice and who uses it?

Pumpkin Spice is a spice mix which is usually added to pumpkin pie – a Thanksgiving favourite. The mix itself does not contain pumpkin. It’s a combination of warming autumnal flavours and goes nicely with hot drinks, cookies and more.

// Laura’s recipe

3 tbsp Cinnamon

2 tsp Ground Ginger

1 1/2 tsp Nutmeg

1 tsp Ground Cloves

1 tsp Allspice

Add all the ingredients to a jar, mix and keep it until you’re ready to add to your favourite dishes to get all the fall feels.

Pumpkin spice adds the perfect touch to both sweet and savoury dishes. Here are seven ways to use it at home:

1. Coffee and lattes: Classic pumpkin spice lattes (PSLs) are a must for fall, but you can also add it to regular brewed coffee or cold brew for a seasonal twist.

2. Baked goods: Add to muffins, cookies, cakes, pancakes, waffles, or even bread for a warm, spiced flavour.

3. Oatmeal and smoothies: Stir into oatmeal or blend it into smoothies for a comforting breakfast option.

4. Yogurt and granola: Mix into yogurt or sprinkle over granola for an autumn-inspired snack.

5. Popcorn and nuts: Add to roasted nuts or popcorn for a sweet and savoury snack mix.

6. Soups and stews: Use in creamy pumpkin or butternut squash soups for a subtle, warming kick.

7. Ice Cream and desserts: Top vanilla ice cream, puddings, or custards with pumpkin spice for a seasonal dessert.
