5 Things Taylor Swift Has Taught Us

Beyond just being a huge household name, Taylor Swift is a force to be reckoned with business wise too. Her impact now extends way beyond music as she has imparted insights and knowledge on leadership, business, and personal development.

Taylor Swift has given us a glimpse into her journey through her masterful songwriting and thoughtfully constructed eras. 1.Don’t be afraid to let your light shine

"Bejeweled" is now the ultimate anthem for women, with lyrics like "What's a girl gotta do, a diamonds gotta shine", They remind us to stay confident and let our light shine bright. Your sparkle lights up the rooms you walk into, and no one can ever take that away from you. Shine on friends! 

2. Be kind, but not a pushover 

‘Evermore’ was Taylor’s second pandemic album, and the lines, “Never be so kind, you forget to be clever. Never be so clever, you forget to be kind”, from ‘Marjorie’ quickly became a hit. They remind us to find a balance between kindness and cleverness. It's important to be kind to others and stand up for yourself. Being clever is admirable, but not at the expense of hurting others. The best people balance strength and sincerity, and this line captures that beautifully.

3. Shake it off 

Taylor Swift said it best, "haters gonna hate" and it's true that not everyone may like her, but that doesn't stop her from being incredibly successful. We often worry too much about what others think of us, but their opinions shouldn't define us. It's okay if people disagree or don't like us. We don't have to change ourselves to meet their expectations. Let's focus on being true to who we are!

4. Take your power back. 

In 2015, she filed a dollar-valued countersuit against a man who had assaulted her. She didn't let fear stop her from seeking justice. She did the unthinkable, took back control of her music, and announced that she would be rerecording her albums. Many in the industry were understandably doubted whether this would work, but with her loyal fanbase, this proved to be a phenomenal idea. Taylor’s Versions has been top charts for weeks and even months at a time.

5. Build your Personal Brand 

Taylor Swift has created an incredibly recognisable brand for herself. She stays true to her voice, knows how to market herself, and is a savvy businesswoman. It's impressive that she even sells her merchandise outside the stadiums where she performs, so fans who can't get tickets can still be part of the Taylor Swift experience. Your brand is so important in your career. It's what people think of you when you're not around.
