5 Reasons Why We Need a Good Nursing Bra

Wearing a good nursing bra is not some trivial feat, but rather a necessity in my book, and trust me, finding one that is both functional and gorgeous was once upon a time, a tricky task!

While I was pregnant and looking for a nursing bra, I found that most brands forgot about the mum in the process of making their maternity wear, often using cheap fabrics that were neither beautiful, stretchy nor comfortable, with flimsy clasps which broke after a few wears.

This is why we went on to found our own company as we felt so strongly about this. At Femique, our ethos from the very beginning was that mums need to be at the forefront when designing the nursing bra. Nursing can be a difficult time for a lot of mothers to navigate, so this is why we designed our maternity range, so that pregnancy and nursing can be as smooth and comfortable as possible for both mum and baby.

Our top 5 reasons to invest a in a good nursing bra:

1.     Comfort: During pregnancy and breastfeeding, women experience significant changes in breast size and sensitivity. A good nursing bra is designed to accommodate these changes and provide comfort throughout the day. It is made from soft, breathable materials that minimise irritation and discomfort.

2.     Support: Proper support is crucial to prevent back pain, which is common due to the increased breast size during breastfeeding. A well-designed nursing bra provides adequate support to reduce strain on the back and shoulders, helping to prevent long-term posture issues and discomfort.

3.     Convenience: Nursing bras are equipped with features such as clips that can be easily opened with one hand, allowing for quick breastfeeding access.

4.     Breast Health: Wearing a supportive nursing bra can help reduce the risk of mastitis and other breast-related issues by ensuring that the breasts are well-supported and not subjected to excessive movement, which can lead to milk duct blockages and infection.

5.     Confidence and Self-Esteem: A good nursing bra not only serves practical functions but also helps new mothers feel confident in their changing bodies. Our bras allow women to feel good about themselves and comfortable in their own skin, supporting a positive self-image during a period of significant physical and emotional changes.
