JLT’s premier hair and beauty salon, THT is raising awareness for the deaf community by welcoming a new team member, Sadaf Haroon who uses American Sign Language to communicate with her team and clients.
Sadaf made the brave move to relocate to Dubai from Pakistan to develop and grow her career in the beauty industry. A mum of one with an unwavering passion for make-up artistry and cosmetology, Sadaf’s story is nothing short of inspiring, pursuing her dreams and not allowing her disability to stop her in her quest to achieve her goals.
Using American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate, Sadaf’s ability to communicate via sign language has brought a new dimension to the salon with her superpower considered a true bonus to everyone around her. She has even begun teaching staff phrases in ASL to help bridge the gap in communication with those who are hearing impaired, showing them how to make small changes to accommodate others with communication differences. In addition, THT offer sign language via zoom consultations and product recommendations from their website, offering same day delivery.
We love THT for their ongoing commitment to meaningful initiatives and forward-thinking campaigns, designed to help women in the community. Their salon is a true safe haven for all women and girls to be their true selves and by through the salon, Sadaf is able to share her wisdom with those who also have hearing issues. Her aim is to educate and inspire, and above all allow hearing impaired clients to feel understood, confident and welcomed at THT – That Hair Tho.
