JOB TITLE: Master Semi Permanent Makeup Artist & Beauty Brand founder
MOVED TO THE UAE IN: 2018
With over two decades in the beauty industry, Carla Beggs has dedicated her career to enhancing women’s confidence through expert care and innovation. She’s a master semi-permanent makeup artist, specialising in Brows, Eyes, and Lips and has developed her unique technique for ensuring perfect healed results. She has built a diverse clientele that includes global icons like Huda Kattan, members of Middle Eastern royal families, and various celebrities.
As a dedicated mother of two, working full time, Carla recently launched her clean, non-toxic premium lip care brand, GOOU when she was seven months pregnant. The brand has already been featured numerous times in Cosmopolitan Middle East and is rapidly gaining traction, positioning itself to become the number one lip care brand in the UAE.
Today Carla shares with us a typical day in her life and world:
7am: Getting the whole house up to get ready, that involves feeding and changing the six month old baby! Dressing my daughter for Nursery, doing packed lunches and rushing out the door for drop off.
8AM: After Nursery drop off, it’s always straight to the gym for a tough workout, either F45 or a spin class. This sets me up for the day and gets me in the right mindset to tackle anything. Always followed by a shower, a healthy breakfast and a nice strong coffee.
10AM: Ready to start a busy day of clients, my schedule is usually jam packed with one after the other, it could consist of Brows, Eyeliner and multiple Lips blushes, and a lot of consultations. It could involve some training for artists sharing my skills and knowledge.
12NOON: I usually don’t allocate any time for a lunch break as time is so precious during the day to fit in multiple clients from my waiting list, however, if I do get a small gap, it’s usually responding to emails, messages and working on any GOOU related enquiries or jumping on a call with our retailers and planning new product launches for GOOU!
2PM: Then it’s Nursery pickup and straight back to work. This involves a busy afternoon working my magic on my gorgeous Client’s faces to enhance their natural beauty through semi permanent make up.
4PM: Racing home trying to avoid the traffic! Once I’m through the door, it’s straight into my mum, I usually try and take the kids for a walk to the park and spend some quality time with them.
6PM: Then it’s dinner, bath time and I always make sure I do bedtime. It’s the one thing I never failed to do, which is so important to me and my children. We cuddle, read stories and talk about what we’ve done that day.
8PM: I always without fail wind down with a nice bath, skincare routine and of course a GOOU lip Care ritual. And straight into emails, packing orders, managing tasks for GOOU, campaign brainstorming and shooting social media content. Followed by some life admin, making sure I haven’t missed any school emails! I truly believe organisation and prioritising is key.
10PM: My husband usually works late but we often have a short catch up about our day, liaising our diaries and hopefully planning something nice for the weekend, and try to get to sleep fairly soon after 10 pm. Alarms are set for the dream feed and hoping the baby doesn’t wake up too much at night!
