NAME: Clementine Munro

AGE: 33

INSTAGRAM HANDLE: @clementinemunro

JOB TITLE:  Associate Director, Head of Apartment Sales

MOVED TO THE UAE IN: 2013

I work in Real Estate! I’ve been in Dubai for 11 years, always in front end sales. I have spent the majority of my career responsible for advising high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals on residential purchases, from multiple small units for investment to high end trophy homes, covering all key global locations from New York, Paris to Berlin and London. After the birth of my first son, I made a strategic move to spend less time on a plane and join the dynamic world of Dubai Real Estate once more. I joined Espace, where I had started my career, and a company I had watched flourish in the years I’d been absent. I joined as an Associate Director managing the Apartment Sales Team, maximising sales volumes, strategizing on growth and talent development, and working alongside our MD and Marketing Team to cement Espace's position as the 'go to' Quality Brokerage for Real Estate in Dubai. My team includes 28 brokers, speaking 12 languages and spanning 14 nationalities.

I’ve recently had my second baby, a daughter who is 5 months and a ball of joy. My husband and I live in The Meadows in a house we bought through Espace and have 2 naughty rescue poodles. I love fashion, in particular ‘work wear’ and have a real interest in all things beauty. I care deeply about empowering women in the work place to feel seen as they are; using inner confidence to shine rather than conforming to the narrative of women in the workplace being a ‘Boss’.

As a family we love Dubai and what it has given us, we feel so blessed to live and work in such a beautiful City. As a Scottish family, our greatest holidays are spent returning home, or watching Scotland Rugby win (or lose) around the world. I’m resolutely sunny as a person. I’m enthusiastic, hugely energetic and a bit of a nerd. I love what I do and feel I’ve landed on my ‘dream job’.

What her day looks like…

5:30 am – Alarm goes, I try to snooze once and then tiptoe to my dressing room so I don’t wake my husband. I laid out my gym clothes the night before.

6 am - 7 am — Gym. Whilst I never want to go, I always feel better about going. I do mainly weight training with a personal trainer.

7:15 am – Race home and cuddle my babies. Have a cup of tea with my family and give my baby a thousand kisses.

7:50 am – I go upstairs, look at my phone, and see if anything urgent has come in overnight. I’m trying to not use my phone before 7:50 am – I’m consciously trying to start my day by being more present.

8:00 am –  In the shower, do my make up and get ready for work. I have my routine down to a T. One minute late and the whole morning is out of whack.

8:30 am –  Leave the house for work. I always listen to music in the morning. Something super upbeat that gets me in the zone.

9 am – Arrive at work, grab a coffee and start greeting the team.

9:15 am – First team meeting of the day. Run through live offers, hot buyers, hot stock and then throughout the week this breaks into more intimate team specific meetings.

10 am - 12 pm – Offer strategy, Training, 121’s and ongoing support.

12 NOON: Lunch at my desk as I’m not a breakfast person. Usually Deliveroo (!) or I walk to Waitrose in Marina Mall.

1 pm – Marketing meeting to discuss the messaging for a digital campaign we are launching. I also shoot a quick-fire interview with a successful recruit for LinkedIn.

3 pm – Second interview a candidate and then liaise with recruitment on pending offers and areas of growth and development.

4 pm – Sit with our Sales Director, update deal flow, transfer deals, discuss current market conditions, and strategize for the rest of the week on maximising performance from the team.

5:30 pm – I aim to leave at 5:30 pm to be home for 6. Sometimes I don’t make it home for bedtime but that’s Real Estate. It’s an urgent, busy, stressful job but no day is the same.

6 pm – 7 pm – Play with my babies, watch some TV with them, and give them a thousand hugs.

7:30 – 8:30 pm – Dinner and watch some TV with my husband. Currently on our 214th run of The Office.

8:30 pm – 9 pm – A bath, my nighttime routine and try to read instead of doom scroll on my phone. Currently reading Gabor Mate, The Myth of Normal which is fascinating!

9 pm – In bed. Our baby still wakes occasionally and we have just said goodbye to our incredible night nanny. Any wakes before 2 am my husband deals with and any wakes after 2 am are on me so an early night makes sure I get enough sleep ready for the next day.
