Mama Crumble at Ripe Market // Dubai's British Crumble Bakehouse Is Here All Season

There are desserts, and then there's a warm apple crumble with custard poured over the top. If you grew up in the UK, you already know. If you didn't, you're about to find out.

Mama Crumble, Dubai's first homegrown British crumble bakehouse, is setting up at Ripe Market, Academy Park, from 10th October. It's open every day for an eight-month residency, which nicely covers the months when it's cool enough to want pudding outdoors.

The brand comes from mother-and-daughter duo Yasmin and Zoya Kidwai, and the recipe is Mum's, unchanged. Think soft cinnamon apple compote, buttery shortbread crumble and silky vanilla bean custard. There are no towering toppings, just crumble done properly. You can add a crackling custard brûlée or homemade granola if you fancy it.

"Crumble has always been home in a bowl for us," says Zoya.

Ripe visitors also get a mixed berry crumble, with more flavours promised over the coming months. Matcha and coffee have joined the menu too.
