LIFE LESSON – 1 - Seek Professional Help Early
One of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned is the value of seeking professional guidance when needed. Early in my career and personal life, I didn’t hesitate to book coaches and professionals who could provide insights that I couldn’t see myself. Their expertise not only fast-tracked my career but also saved me from unnecessary struggles, helping me avoid pitfalls that would have slowed my progress. These individuals were able to point out hidden obstacles and patterns in my life that I was completely unaware of. This experience has stayed with me, reinforcing the importance of getting expert help earlier rather than waiting until things become overwhelming. Whether it’s in parenting or personal development, seeking professional support can be the difference between struggling through challenges and thriving through them. This lesson continues to guide me today, both in my own life and in how I support the families I work with.
LIFE LESSON – 2 - Healing Takes Time, and That’s Okay
Coming from a difficult childhood, I’ve had my share of emotional struggles, including overcoming the effects of neglect and emotional abuse. One of the most important life lessons I’ve learned is that healing is not linear. There will be setbacks, periods of growth, and times when you feel like you're moving backward. It's vital to embrace the process and not rush it. Whether you’re healing from childhood trauma or a difficult relationship, giving yourself the grace to heal at your own pace is crucial. Through my own journey, I’ve learned to set healthy boundaries, embrace self-compassion, and recognize the value of small victories. What matters most is the commitment to continue healing and growing. Remember, healing is a personal process, and no one else can dictate how fast or slow it should happen.
LIFE LESSON – 3 - Set Boundaries, Not Walls
One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned in both my personal and professional life is the importance of setting boundaries. As someone who has struggled with codependency, setting healthy boundaries was not something that came naturally to me. I often feared that saying “no” or expressing my needs would push people away. However, over time, I realised that boundaries are necessary for maintaining healthy relationships. They are not meant to isolate us but to protect our emotional well-being and help us connect with others in a more balanced way. In my work with families, I emphasise that boundaries teach children respect, both for themselves and others. Whether it’s in a professional or personal context, setting boundaries is not selfish—it’s a form of self-respect. Today, I advocate for open communication, clear limits, and the understanding that it’s okay to protect your energy and emotional space.
