A New Friday Ritual Arrives at Sobremesa: Talk Taco Tequila Fridays

At Sobremesa, Friday evenings unfold as they should: slowly, generously and with intention. Introducing Talk Taco Tequila Fridays, a weekly ritual centred on tequila, shared plates and the art of staying a little longer.

Set within the warm atmosphere of the neighbourhood bar in Souk Al Bahar, the evening invites guests to settle in, share conversation and let the bar guide the rhythm of the night.

True to Sobremesa’s identity as a Mexican-Spanish bar and restaurant, the experience is designed to move through the room rather than anchor guests to a table. From 8pm until 11pm, tacos make their way around, encouraging conversation to ebb and flow naturally. There are no menus for tacos and no ordering; instead, the kitchen quietly guides the flow of the evening, allowing guests to remain present in the moment. Unlimited guacamole and tostadas arrive on every table and are served freely throughout the night.

Guests are invited to experience the evening through a choice of packages, each designed to suit a different pace. The ‘T’ Talk experience offers a relaxed introduction, with two cocktails or beers per guest alongside unlimited pass-around tacos and one black caviar taco. For those settling in for longer, the ‘TT’ Talk & Taco table experience builds on this with a shared bottle of tequila or mezcal, unlimited mixers, and continuous pass-around black caviar tacos while they last. At the pinnacle of the ritual, the ‘TTT’ Supremo table is anchored by an ultra-premium tequila bottle with a dedicated plate of black caviar tacos.

Once throughout the night, the room pauses for Sobremesa’s most distinctive gesture: the Ronda de Caviar. As the lights soften and the music briefly dips, the team enters with a singletray of black caviar tacos. A short announcement marks the moment before the tacos are passed to guests, being a fleeting ceremony that lasts less than a minute, making it an impromptu experience rather than something to be anticipated or repeated.

Beyond the caviar moment, a rotating selection of Sobremesa’s signature tacos are shared throughout the night, each designed to be enjoyed casually and communally, alongside the steady hum of conversation at the bar. The agave-led programme remains at the heart of theevening, with tequila and mezcal guiding the pace, while cocktails and beers complement the easy rhythm of the space. A DJ soundtracks the night with subtle energy, allowing the atmosphere to build without ever demanding attention.
