March At Barre Effect

Jessica Smith

A talk by Paralympian and author Jessica Smith

Barre Effect is proud to welcome Jessica Smith to share a motivational talk as part of a workshop. The workshop consists of a 45-minute full-body barre class, followed by a 15-minute meditation, preceded by Jessica's 30-minute speech on overcoming adversity.

A bit of Jessica's incredible journey of triumphs and tribulations will be shared during the talk. Although she was born missing her left arm, and then suffered a horrific accident when she was a toddler that left her with 15% burns on her body, she defied all odds and swam for seven years for her country. While Jessica battled societal obstacles related to body image and disability acceptance, sports gave her ambition and focus.

Using her own story, she created a series of Just Jessica children's books to teach young children to celebrate their differences. This book series tackles diversity and inclusion, breaking down stigmas associated with disability, body image, self-acceptance, friendship, social interaction, self-esteem, and stereotypes, and will be available at Barre Effect throughout March.

During the event, light refreshments and goodie bags are provided by homegrown activewear brand, L'Couture.

Using your existing class package, you can sign up via the Barre Effect website or app. Availability is limited.

Come to the barre on Mother's Day with your daughter

For one day only, Barre Effect invites ladies to bring a girl to the barre in honour of International Women's Day and UK Mothers Day. Barre Effect participants in this adapted 50-minute barre class are encouraged to bring a girl aged 6-12 to experience and enjoy the fun we have at Barre Effect.

The event will feature a curated and empowering playlist, as well as Barre Effect's signature moves, followed by treats from L'Couture and Organic Foods and Café.

The class will take place on March 19th at 11:30 AM. Customers can book by sharing their current class packs (the front desk team will assist) or by creating an account online and purchasing a single class for their daughter.
